Confess – Colleen Hoover

4/5 Stars

“It’s amazing how much distance one truth can create between two people.”

OMG!

In this contemporary romance novel by Colleen Hoover, Confess follows Auburn Reed in her attempt to take control of her life. At a young age, Auburn’s entire world collapsed around her, and her losses haven’t stopped since. Now, at 21, she’s on a mission to take back control and take back what’s most important to her. The start of her journey includes a job search and leads her into an art studio in Dallas, where she meets Owen Gentry, the mysterious artist, who might just have the power to complicate her situation further.

With an instant connection and undeniable attraction, Auburn ultimately decides to let her heart guide her as her relationship with Owen progresses, but once she does, she learns that Owen is hiding a major secret. For the sake of her progress getting her own life on track, Auburn knows it’s safest to cut Owen out of her life.

In order Owen to get Auburn back, all he has to do is confess, but his confession might be more detrimental to both of their lives than the truth. With secrets surrounding both Auburn and Owen, their relationship collapses as they both struggle to fix the aftermath of their pasts in order to save their futures.

Wow. Colleen Hoover never fails to amaze me. When I read Confess earlier this year, my eyes couldn’t leave the words as they left me feeling things I wasn’t sure I was capable of feeling. The anger, frustration, and anticipation I felt kept me on the edge of my seat, hoping for a happy ending.

Both Auburn and Owen are amazingly strong characters with relatable personalities. The way they care for those who are important to them is something beautiful, and their hearts are both so vulnerable in the most damaged way. No matter who reads this story, you’ll want the best for these characters, and you’ll miss them instantly once you finish the book. I think I’ll always try to keep Auburn and Owen with me when I’m struggling in life. There’s a lot you can learn from them.

The end of this book, without spoiling anything, was so intense, I cried. The climax and resolution were so beautifully executed and heart-wrenching. I think this was probably my favorite ending to any one of Colleen Hoover’s novels. Just trust me when I say, you won’t be expecting that, and it will make you gasp out loud.

This story will leave your heart swelling in your chest and tears streaming down your cheeks.

I would definitely recommend Confess to any and everyone.
